We would like to thank those of you who have a been watching our videos over the past year! We hope you found the information we shared useful!

Since the year is about over, many people are starting to think about how they're going to make 2015 their best year yet. Whether it's your career, your family, your health, or something else that is important to you, the start of a new year is the perfect time to set goals to improve different aspects of your life.

At the end of the year, we sit down and go through a strategic plan for our business and our lives. Today, we want to share a few helpful tips that help us through the process.

An important document we use is called the Wheel of Life. It has eight different categories that represent different areas of your life. They include: social life, work, exercise, creativity/alone time, learning, partner, volunteering/community, and family. The idea is to rate yourself from 1 to 10 in each category to see how balanced your life is.

Once you've identified which areas in your life need the most work, you can improve them by focusing on three questions:

  1. What kind of results are you trying to create?
  2. What results have you produced in the past?
  3. What action are you going to take and how do you prepare?

We've found that this strategy is an effective way to set and achieve goals, both professional and personal. Always remember, being a Realtor® is about more than business - it's about our health, spirituality, finances, and many other facets that make up our lives.

We hope these tips help you set meaningful goals and assist you in accomplishing them throughout 2015. If you have any questions about this exercise, or have questions about growing your business in the new year, don't hesitate to give us a call. We would love to hear from you!

How do You Keep Clients for Life?

How to keep your clients after the saleToday we want to talk to you a little bit about giving back. The people who buy and sell homes with us are the reason we are able to stay in business. Most of us spend a lot of time, energy, and money acquiring new clients, but one thing that we drop the ball on is taking care of these clients after the sale.

We are always thinking of new ways to help give back to our clients. One of our favorite ways to say thanks is with a client appreciation party. For example, our Thanksgiving appreciation gift is a free pie. We are inviting all of our client to come to our office and pick up a free pie. It gives us an opportunity to see them again and catch up, to reconnect and solidify our relationship. This proactive approach will really increase your repeat and referral business.

If you have any questions, or would like to talk about your business  or look at a possible career change, be sure to give us a call or send us an email. We would love to share our experience!

How to Choose a Quality Vendor

How to Choose a Quality Vendor

In our business, we rely heavily on the people we work with. It's very important to choose a quality vendor so you can refer your clients with confidence.

One Important thing to look for in a vendor relationship is if you understand how each other works. It's important to have open lines of communication so you can not only stay in touch for your benefit, but for the benefit of your clients as well.

Using testimonials can really help you choose quality vendors. Interviewing them is another route you could take as well. You need to know how the vendor does their job and what makes them different from other vendors out there who do the same thing.

Think of a relationship with a vendor as a referral partnership. You are going to refer your clients to their services and they are going to do the same. You are an extension of each other's businesses

If you have any questions about finding the right vendor, or about the real estate market in general, give us a call or send us an email. We'd be glad to help you out!

Having a Conversation vs. Making a Connection

Having a Conversation vs. Making a Connection

An important thing to do when talking to prospective clients is to sell yourself and talk about how great of an experience your past clients have had. This is a good starting point for getting your foot in the door, but one thing that often gets overlooked is what that person is looking for. It's much more important to invite that person to let you know about their needs and be engaged with that rather than rambling on about your great service. Let them do the talking and ask the right questions when they do.

Being engaged and making a connection makes all the difference. The end goal of getting them to hire you as their real estate agent does not change, but the way you come to that conclusion does.

It's important to also take that connection beyond the sale. What you really want is the lifetime benefit of having them as a client not only in the present, but in the future. It doesn't stop at closing day, you need to keep in touch with them as well. Clients will value that connection and are more likely to refer you and use your services again. Having a lifelong client has multiple benefits that will help you grow your business.

How to Utilize Social Media to Grow your Business

 Hey there,

Thanks for checking us out today. Our topic today is a good one. We are going to talk about social media and how you can utilize it in your real estate business.

One of the best ways to use social media as an agent is to use it to keep in touch with past and current clients. A technique that we utilize to stay in touch with past clients via social media is through creating educational videos to educate our clients and others looking to get into the market.

Another technique we use is praising and highlighting our clients to congratulate them through social media. It allows us to keep in touch with them while also allowing them to share with their friends and family the excitement they have from buying or selling their home.

Our customers are the most important aspect of our business. Social media is a great way to reach a wide audience and get them to contact you to let you know when they are ready to make a move. The main goal, as always, is getting that face-to-face conversation started and social media is a great catalyst for doing so.

If you have any questions, please feel free to give us a call. We'd love to answer any questions you have.

Know the Benefits of Working with a Real Estate Team

Know the Benefits of Working with a Real Estate Team

Working with a real estate team does provide numerous advantages, especially as a new agent. The advantages of joining an existing real estate team include:
  1. Connecting into solid business systems
  2. Connecting into lead management systems
Most teams will have an administrator and staff in place to ensure your real estate career is off to a great start. This will allow you to see that growth sooner, as opposed to being on your own.

Some of the drawbacks of being a solo real estate agent can be:
  1. Being unclear about your daily tasks. Without having a team structure, some agents tend to flounder around by not knowing what it exactly is that they should be doing on daily basis.
  2. Not knowing the business. It helps having a support system when writing a purchase agreement or filling paperwork to ensure you’re advising your clients correctly and working within the confines of the law.
If you are working as a solo agent and you’re thinking about joining a team, we would love to speak with you – even if you just would like to know more about the business! Stay tuned for more videos educating you on starting your business or learning some tools of the trade.

Thanks and have a great day!

Keep Your Business Afloat with Consistent Prospecting

Prospecting is the Life-Blood of Your Real Estate Business

Welcome to our recruiting blog here at Peterson Goff in Sioux Falls. We're just going to be sharing tips on how to make real estate agents more consistent with their business and teach them how to get better results out of their deals.

The major thing with prospecting is that you have to do it consistently. The hardest part is probably just staying on top of all this work.

One of the best ways around this is just to shave out a certain time everyday that you can devote to prospecting. You have to treat it like an important appointment that you're not going to miss. Devote 1-3 hours for this everyday, and you will start seeing results.

It's undoubtedly true that technology has changed our business. However, there is no replacement to getting on the phone and calling someone. Technology has made it easier for agents to find people and get in front of them, but you cannot forget about person-to-person communication. There is no technology available to enhance face-to-face communication, and you need to hone this skill. Often times you will have to call someone more than once, so you will need a lot of practice with prospecting for clients.

Hopefully this information has been helpful. I know it was short, but if you need to contact me with any questions or comments, then please feel free to do so. I am always here to help you here in the Sioux Falls area.

We would love to arrange a time for you to sit down and chat with us.
